Meetings & Events

Gatherings of the members of the Devonport Branch and friends or visitors are usually held on a monthly basis. They may be held at our Branch Library in Latrobe or at other places as determined by the committee. Please check here frequently for news of what is coming up or contact the Secretary for further details.

The format of the events may vary but generally we have a short meeting followed by research and information sessions.
Guest speakers provide us with helpful and entertaining information covering many aspects of genealogy.
If you have any suggestions for speakers or events, please contact the secretary or any committee member.

TFHS Inc. Awards

Rosie and HelenAt the TFHS Inc. annual meeting held in Ross on June 19th, three of our hard-working volunteers received recognition for their valuable service to our organsiation when they were presented with these awards.
Rosie Marshall, Helen Anderson and Glenice Brauman were nominated by Devonport Branch members as being worthy recipients of an award which is designed to recognise the efforts of our volunteers. Rosie and Helen were on hand to personally receive their certificates from our patron Alison Alexander during the annual meeting at Ross.
Pictured at right are Rosie and Helen.

About the Legacy Users Group

The group started with a need by some members to explore the various options available in this popular Family Tree program, with a view to better present the results of their family history research.
The first presentation "Tips & Tricks" using Legacy was conducted by Dale Smith in September 2009 in our Library at Latrobe, with a follow up session in November. It was decided by the committee to hold regular bi-monthly Legacy User Group meetings with the next one scheduled for 25th February, 2010.

There is also an option available to members should they prefer to have 1 on 1 training on the normal library days of Tuesday or Friday - this can be arranged. The sessions are generally based on question and answers and discussions on updated features as they become available.
